Since most of HM65R-T was primarily designed for trail runners, I found that many of the features met my needs as being hands-free for long-distance walks to the beach, the ability to withstand bad weather, the durability of the structural body and comfortability.

For the first feature, I wish they could bring in the most obvious red light mode. As many fishermen of us see the red light is an optimal choice for not scaring the fish away and preventing any glare for those in close proximity.

The battery-saving mode on the floodlight, set at 5 lumens, is barely visible and might pose a challenge if you’re dealing with eyesight issues.

While having two different lights is beneficial, using them simultaneously isn’t any more effective, as one tends to wash out the other…

The patented strap will overstretch if used on a bigger size head or helmet. Assuming you’re not going to use the helmet while fishing… 😉

Some people prefer a middle overhead band, thinking it offers better support for the forehead. For me, simplicity rules when I’m out fishing, and this light fits the bill without carrying extra weight and less breathability.

The lifespan of a battery is typically 3-5 years. Sure, some batteries defy this timeline, but let’s be real, they don’t hold their charge as long as we’d hope. Take the lithium 18650 for instance, with a cycle of 500 charge cycles…

I’m not an expert but here’s my take-if you’re using it every single day, after 500 days, you’re looking at losing the default capacity, roughtly around 1.5 years.

For someone like myself, hitting the water just once a month, I’ll hit 40 cycles by the end of the 5 year-life span. That’s when the battery might throw in the towel and dramatically lose it’s power.

So, just like swapping out my phone battery when it’s on it’s last legs, I’d do the same with my headlamp.
